smoking and ignorant smokers suck
i was at that party last night and well smokers ruined it... it started with a kitchen jam and some guy came in and lit up.... man i was pissed... it's happened before... it was so rude and it still is... not to mention that there is a no smoking sign on the door... then to escape the stink i went up stairs to find a host or just to get away for a bit and well the host was allowing smoking upstairs too... i was pissed... so i just left... i left my booze and i left my guitars...
it was also unpleasant to have a smoking friend talk to me with smoke on her breath... ick... i was trying not to gag so as not to be rude but common... you stink... go brush your teeth people...
and for the record it has never been ok since i quit smoking to smoke in my basement... and on top of that don't smoke at my front down that just blows down the alley and in my hallway window and in my room... and don't smoke at the back door... that just goes right up in my bedroom window...
i hate smoke and i hate ignorant smokers... and if you want to be my friend give me some respect and appreciate the fact that i've been so far successfull and support me by taking your habbit else where... this is not a test... this is the way it is and how it will be from now on... smoking is dumb and i'm sorry i ever inflicted my old habbit on anyone... the power of addiction is amazing

I Totally agree! Amen
thank you
People should know by now that they can't smoke in the house..with the sign on the front door..and the constant pack of smokers who are out front..but a few just (well, just one person really) seem to think they are beyond the rules and can light up wherever they want
personally i would ban him from the premises... there are smokers and there are ignorant smokers then there are spiteful/break the rules smokers... those are another story
banning someone for smoking is pretty harsh..but it does get to the point where you can only give someone so many chances..and the fact that he did it twice in one night
Let's not forget that all us ex-smokers were once what these guys still are. We didn't realize how much stink came off of us and they don't either. At some point if they live they might come to their senses and quit too so don't be too hard on them.. you know what an addiction smoking it and so do I.
Im not bashing him for smoking...but he should know enough to smoke outside is all I'm saying..its just that he's done it numerous times and knows we don't allow smoking in the house
yes thank you... good point... again as i've said to many i'm sorry for the positions i've put everyone in as a smoker... smoking is a powerful addiction and it's ashame... especially when it takes over the mind to the point that you start coniving about ways to just smoke in a smoking prohibited environment...
with is not just selfish but arrogance... ignorance is noe thing... arrogance is another thing... and then there is ....
nah... i've ranted enough
Kinda reminds me of the party I went to and they were smoking pot...wow, I was pissed. I tried to get away from them, but they were allowing it everywhere...ick...and the smell was unreal nasty...why do people not understand that pot smokers should be banned from most premises?? Selfish arrogant potheads piss me off...
And yes, I know that this post will mosty likely be deleted in a while. Doesn't mean my point (or opinion) isn't worthy of being typed.
my point is that if i was going to a party that posted no smoking pot stickers on the front door and the pot smokers were outside smoking pot as another sign that pot smoke is not aloud... and then i went in because i would rather be inside where the pot smoke is not aloud and found that the party was full or no... just one guy that no one had any idea that he was lighting up a joint inside except for me and when i decided to leave the room that he was in to get away from it the next room i go to has the host and some poeple smoking pot then ... ya i would leave ... not my party... not the party i was hoping for at all... my night was basically ruined because of it... because i can't deal with it like everyone else i guess... that's why i post this stuff here...
so you went to a party and assumed that it was pot free? but it turned out to be free pot? ya that would suck for you... much like tobacco smoke bugs me... i would feel your pain except i sence alot of sarcasism or condisation in that comment... if so don't come here... i dont' need that type of energy projected at me... but if your stating a fact then ya i feel your pain... you should probably check out the party by phone from now on... i can't recall going to any party's where there wasn't at least one bit pot being used... but then again i don't belong to a NA or AA group... now you might want to say maybe you should be... well that is a different issue... start your own blog
i ment to say condescention not condisation
I agree with you niffty about the smoke. I think that if it were my house, and someone blatantly smoked when I told them not to, that would constitute a punch to the facial area.
However, we all have our vices, which impede on others, including you. I guess I think you should keep that in mind when condemning "ALL" smokers. Some of those "Smokers" are your friends, and I am sure that they do not like being judged by you. That kind of judgement can easily go both ways, and we can all be judged on something about ourselves.
This post is drawing lots of attention to the matter, so I guess that is good. I don't know who the smoker at the party is, but I am willing to bet that he is a dick. He would never be returning to my place. Some people have no respect......
i went to school with him... he's always nice and feels bad when ever i've had to kick him out... i'm hearing story's about him and i'm starting to think that he's a rathole waiting to be filled in... and ways... i'm just saying that don't come from a smoke out side come right up to my face and talk to me because i might puke on yours... it's a win win situation... i've lost friend for less... if i went out with a woman for 10 months and she smoked 1 cigarette i would probably dump her...
In a way, I can kind of agree with everyone who has posted here, everyone has made good points.
I wasn't at the party, but I know that I guess I would be kinda p'od if there was a "No Smoking" sign on the door or the window or the wall or wherever, and people were ignorant to it. It's the same as at a bar. I know people who now go to the bars, that wouldn't before due to the simple fact that bars were not smoke free. As a non-smoker, if you know a place is smoke free it gives you more incentive to frequent it.
My two cents worth is that I'm glad I quit smoking in August, and I have no intention of starting again. Partly for my own health, and mostly for my son's health.
I've rambled long enough, and it probably doesn't even make sense, because I've had to leave it about 5 times to tend to my monkey.
I'm glad that you quit too, and to be honest with you, I really didn't think it would last as long as it has. Kudos to you (and me too).
I remember that old saying that say kissing a woman who smoked was like kissing an ashtray. Only thing is they don't know their breath smells and their hair too. Just make your no smoking in the house rules more visible and strict.
...opinions are valuable to their owners....
there are millions of reasons not to smoke... not just your own health and because of your child... althogh those are great reasons... i've found it benificial to see the evil of smoking from every angle...
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone...
that totally doesn't apply here...
it's like no one understands...
i quit smoking i need to be in a smoke free environment....
i was totally looking forward to that party... smoke ruined it... totally put me in a bad mood...
i'm not casting stones just stating my observations of my reactions...
and to the one person who seems to be the most upset about this post i wasn't referring to you at all... you were actually the highlight of the night... it was nice to see you happy and smiling and oddly enough touching my sister in that way...
and now you know that if you did come up to me with smoke on your breath i'd be thinking what i said here.... although i'd be nice about it... but as long as you respect the no smoking rule i really can't say anything at all except that i can't handle the smoke thing anymore... 0 tolerance
Umm.....maybe your words would help you in your "distaste" for smoke....
"you should probably check out the party by phone from now on"
And you couldn't do this why?
I totally sympathize with you Como. Welcome to the club.
Still to this day at a bar I will be sitting all alone while everyone I know is crammed into the tiny little smoke room. And you know what? I don't care. I'd rather be lonely and healthy than wake up every morning hacking up and stinking like a friggin ashtray.
I say good for you. I don't think it'll ever get easier though. You just have to learn to deal with it, and hopefully one day your friends will respect you enough to give you the courtesy of not smoking in your house or in your face.
take care buddy.
Carole
Enough with the smoking "niffty does not like it in his face " or anywhere near him ; we get the point .But just remember one thing ,people do smoke and yes they should respect your wishes when at your home ,but you also should remember to show a little respect towards them , as odd as it might be for you to do !you quit /they did not/ they might in time /but others will not ! If you dislike it so much stay away from it ,but do not be rude when passing a smoker "with you stink comments! That's all i have 2 say about that ,i enjoy smoking and no it is bad for me and others around me and i hate the smell of it also so i try to be as thoughtful as i can be about it .SO why not try that for awhile "thoughtfulness goes along way !
"but you also should remember to show a little respect towards them"
The difference is that a non-smoker is not jeopardizing a smoker's health by not smoking around them. And you don't give him much choice to not be around it if you're smoking in his house. The problem is that it is a health issue for non-smokers, and not just an annoyance.
This seems to be a very hot topic that many people have strong opinions about. Debate is a good and healthy thing!
thanks carole...
to the to the anonymous poster who wants to argue have some courage and post your name... since i changed the settings to no anonymous comments maybe i won't have to read and or delete your comments... i'm leaving that one as an example of the stupid reasons you come up with to justify your rediculous addiction....
as for the other anonymous commenter sorry that you won't be able to post as anonymous anymore... funny how others ruin it for you eh... that's the smokers for you.... my issue isn't even about health... it's about my environment... i enjoy the smell of life with out tobacco... thank you very much...
also carole i hope you sign up and create an account here so you can most often... this smoking issue isn't going away
MY name is Hugh macEachern...and NO, I'm NOT a smoking nazi
